This is my first post here on Live Jounal. I don't quite know what I'm supposed to post so if I got it wrong you now no why. I have a blog in my OK cupid account and I'm tranfering them here. OK Cupid is a dating website that has an option where you can answer questions to be better set up with people compatable with you. Just answering the questions and being evalutated is fun for me so that most of what I'm on the site for. My blogs from that site are in referance to some of thier questions.
1)
Q: If you found out that someone you were interested in has several other people interested in them too, how would this affect your behavior?
- I'd work harder to attract them.
- I'd be less likely to try with them.
- It would not affect my behavior.
Me: What's more important than how others feel about them is how they feel about me. I'm more liklly to like someone if they like me and less likelly to like them if they don't like me.
2)
Q: Are you the person you want to be?
Me: I like who I am. Every bad thing in my life, wether it was something I did or something that happened to me, helped me to grow into a better person. I try to remind myself of that every time I start to regret my mistakes or feel sorry for myself (dosen't always work, but I still try).
Everybody changes everyday. Even if they don't realise or like it. If you're not paying attention to how you change and other people are, they can have a bigger affect on the way you change than you have. If they don't have your best interest in mind it can be bad for you. Most of the time other people aren't thinking about YOU that much but it's good to realise yourself and take control over the way you change rather than leaving it up to chance.
I have lists of goals of various priority to me concerning how I'd like to be and things I'd like to do. I try to recognise my faults for what they are and improve them where I can. At the same time, I love myself for all that I am including all my faults.
3)
Q: Art Crimes such as grafitti and other public visual expressions are..
- Unacceptable and should remain crimes
- Art and the artists should not be punished
- I don't really care
Me: I love grafitti. I find it to be a beautiful expression of art.
But to just decide that it's ok to use your art to violate other peoples property is not ok. It's not right to thoughs people and thier rights need to be protected.
I think there should be places where grafitti artists are encouraged to express themselves in a way that dosen't violate others property. I like how skate parks premote the art. Perhaps the government should hire them to grafitti public structures.
4)
Q: Do you think it is important to verbally ask a partner's permission each time before physically touching them?
Me: Wow, that sounds like a good idea and a bad idea. I think it's important for sexual interaction to be consensual (how would you feel if someone forced themself on you in ways you didn't want them to). On the other hand, it might become really tedious to have to ask with everything all the time. For the most part in relationships it's obvious what the other person is comfortable with. For everything else, ask or bring it up for discussion. The most difficult will be when you're not yet in a relationship. You're not yet sure how the other person feels about you or what they do or don't like. You're to unfamilliar to discuss it. (That sentance sounds wierd, like it's incomplete. I don't know how to word it better) So in that situation... I don't know.
5)
Q: Should harmful tobacco products be outlawed?
Me: Well I ocationally smoke. Not enough for smokers to concider me a smoker but enough that people biast against smokers are biast against me. I don't focas all that much on it. I'd rather I not smoke because it's bad for my health and the benifits (habbit, comfort, ect.) only exsist due to my personal weaknesses. I'm addicted enough that I probablly downplay the disadvantages in my mind and don't focas that much on quitting.
This is why I'd suffer if it were made illegal. On the other hand, if it were illegal there's a good chance I wouldn't be addicted now. I think in that situation it would be easier not to start in the first place than to quit latter on. In general I think it would be better for future generations.
Then again, it might be stigmatized like weed. Then the fewer number of people who do it would be stigmatized as a criminal or "bad" (more so than now) when the crime isin't really bad on that level. We'd be making criminals for such a petty crime.
